March Week 1 Update

Hi Blogger Friends,

Below is what I have been up to over the last week with my stitching.

Prairie Schooler Alphabet

This project went from this
to this
So I finished Letter C, in this design I changed the yellow of the Moon and Stars to a brighter yellow gold from the projects colours and the house to Pink again from within colours that are in the whole project. This letter took me 24 hrs and 7 minutes over 11 days. Letter D is going to be a challenge as I want to change quite a bit of it being British not American, it is possible I will stitch the bits that do not need altering and move on to Letter E until I am happy with my replacements. Need to keep the project moving if I am going to finish it by 31st December 2017.

And here is a photo of the project so far

Monthly Project - March Pin Cushion (Sheena Rogers/ Cross Stitch Collection Magazine)

This went from this
to this
So another finish - I spent 10 days stitching on it and it took just over 13 hrs to stitch

Janlynn Seasons Samplers - Spring

This went from this
to this
I am very pleased with my progress and am loving this design so far.

Rotation 1 - Victorian Charm

This project went from this
to this
I did 12.5 hrs stitching over 4 days and am really pleased with my progress, I achieved my goal of 12 hours which is the main thing.

Other Stitching

This week I did a little work on my Coloris/CV bookmark and managed to complete the Coloris section I have 20 hearts to stitch and this will be finished. I will try and get this done over the coming week. So last time we saw this it looked like this
and this is where it is now

This week I received a Mother's Day gift from my Daughter, she got me the large Lap Frame from R and R
and I used this to finish up my work on the Prarie Schooler Alphabet. Really like it as it means I can do the two handed stitching which makes me quicker.

I also got this chart as a friend on Facebook was selling it off and I have wanted it for a while
Finally not stitching related I was fancying something sweet having not had anything sweet since the 2nd January other than fruit, so I made a cake
It is a carrot and orange spice loaf with orange buttercream and it was lovely, but being the little piggy that I am when my sweet tooth kicks in I had a little more than I should. The result being after losing every week since the 4th January 2016 this mornings weigh in saw a 0.6lb gain. Oh well it was very tasty and now my sweet tooth is back in its box for a while.

So that's it for this week. My plans for the coming week are to work on Spring Sampler, start this months Joyful World SAL piece, do a little on Prarie Schooler Alphabet Letter D, try and finish the Coloris/CV bookmark and if I get any spare time to do a little more on Home Sweet Home. My main project is Raven and my goal for this is 15 hrs of stitching.

Bye for now
take care

Happy Stitching
love

February Week 5 Update

Hi Blogger Friends,

As always thank you for the lovely comments on my last blog post.

As this week is a Week 5 it meant it was a non rotation week so I sort of stitched on what I felt like but did continue working on my Daily and Monthly projects. I did not however work on Save the Stitches this week. I will continue working on that every Thursday through March to bring my total to 10 Thursdays before I switch it out for another sampler for a few weeks.

Daily Project - Prairie Schooler Alphabet - Letter C

Last week I left this project here
and below is where I am now at
I am quite pleased with my progress, this project does work quite slowly but I am still on track which is the main thing. So far I have changed the gold colour for the moon and stars to a brighter yellow that is used in the project. It was meant to be the same shade as the lighter colour in the letter B pie crust and to me that just was not bright enough. Also as stated before the red that is used for the letters was changed to a lighter shade and I will use throughout the project. I also intend to change the house colour which will be above the cow on right. From the Red to most likely one of the pinky shades that is in the whole project colour scheme, hopefully we will see that in next weeks posting.

Monthly Project - March Pin Cushion (Sheena Rogers/Cross Stitch Collection Magazine)

As it was the start of the month that means the start of another Pin Cushion, this is the 9th in the series of 12. Below is what it should look like
and this is where I got to after 5 days stitching
I am pleased with my progress and am actually liking the colours on this design more than I thought I would, it is just a lot nicer in reality. My goal for the coming week is to at least complete the stitching for this project.

Janlynn Seasons Samplers - Spring

I have embarked on a new project series. 1st March saw the start of Spring well at least in terms of the weather I no official Spring is later in March but for the purposes of this project the 1st is an easier date to use. So my plan is to work on the Spring Sampler for 30 mins a day from 1st March to 31st May, then switch to Summer in June, Autumn in September and Winter in December. Lets see how far I can progress them.
This is what it should look like - the cover really does not do the project justice but that is all I have to go on. Below is my progress of just over 3 hrs work
I don't think I have done to badly and I have really enjoyed working the gingham border really pretty.

Japanese Gold (Lesley Teare/Cross Stitch Collection Magazine Issue 234)

As I think I mentioned in a previous blog post I had the intention of finishing off this project in my rotation free week. Below is where I left it
and here is it finished
I am so pleased with how this has turned out, but if I do a project again that involves heavy use of gold metallic thread in back stitching I will do it as I go. It was a real labour of love doing that all Saturday evening and for several hours on Sunday morning. I think I may finish this off in a hoop - getting a wooden one that I will spray gold and then get some ribbon as a hanger.

Home Sweet Home (Riverdrift House/Cross Stitch Crazy)

As I finished Japanese Gold early on Sunday I had a little time to work on something else and now that Japanese Gold is complete I think Home Sweet Home will be my focus on a finish project, which I will work on when I have some spare time. I am hoping that come the end of March/early April this will also be completed.

Here's where I left it last week
and here is where it is after about 2 hrs stitching yesterday
So a little progress but one more stitch in is one less to go, so I am fine with where I am with this.

Three Things Sampler (Bothy Threads)

On Monday I received this lovely kit from Polstitches. It is the Bothy Threads - Moira Blackburn designed sampler Three Things. I am stitching it on 32ct Tudor Rose Linen by Polstitches and like you do I started it. Below is what it should look like complete and my progress after 7and half hours over 4 days
I am really enjoying this and would like to do some more on it soon but as yet not sure where I can fit it in my stitching schedule. It may have to wait until the last week of May which is the next 5 week month.

I also got the final two kits in the Jayne Netley Mayhew/DMC series
I would not have got these but a friend enabled me by pointing out they were half price on Sewandso's website and knowing I would never get them cheaper and knowing that they were on my wishlist it was a given that I would get them.

So this coming week my plans are as follows :- to continue working on Prairie Schooler Alphabet - Letter C and with a little luck completing it, finish the stitching at least on my March Pin Cushion, work on Rotation 1 - Victorian Charm ( at least 12 hrs stitching) and spend Thursday working on Save the Stitches. If after that I do get any free time I will work on either Home Sweet Home or my variegated thread bookmark as the final Coloris thread arrived on Saturday.

So that's it for this week. I do have a little news I am going to a day retreat in September in Cardiff hosted by Jo Critchley of Polstitches with both Joan Elliott and Bothy Threads attending. I am very excited as I have never been to a retreat and as it is only about an hour away isn't too problematic for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings

Bye for now
take care

Happy Stitching
love
